Jamilli Pacheco-Urquiza

Jamilli Pacheco-Urquiza is a gay Mexican American filmmaker whose work centers around the issues facing the communities he inhabits. By meshing video and collaborative work he is able to give voice to autonomous visuals to communities that are many times simply being watched and observed. There is power in looking but even more power in choosing how to be perceived. Beginning with a B.A. in Cinema Studies from Rutgers University to an M.F.A. in Social Documentation from UC Santa Cruz, Jamilli hopes to stroke the flames in other young Latine artists. There is more to us than what we are told we can be!
